What It’s About: It’s winter in Maine and best friends Dinah and Skint just want to help the people around them. Dinah is naive and tries to help everyone, but often misses the bigger picture. Skint, on the other hand, is angry. He’s angry about monks burning themselves in Nepal, and fathers being mean to their children in his hometown. And he’s keeping secrets from Dinah, and everyone he knows.
Who Will Love It: Teens and anyone who feels intensely.
What I Loved: It’s emotionally charged, has realistic characters, and is raw and intense. It’s also different from everything else I’ve read for young adults.
